The Houston valance is one of our most interesting custom window treatments. It features two flat swags. But unlike being separated by a trumpet or pleat which is usually done in curtains like these, the two swags simply have a gap in between that shows the accent fabric.
This window covering is mounted onto a dust board. Choose from a 3 1/2-inch or 5 1/2-inch board depth. The top layer of the valance is lined with our premium drapery lining and the bottom layer is self-lined. Large prints are centered onto each swag. Interlining and trim are optional. The drop is 18 inches in the center and 22 inches at the jabots. Widths between 38 and 48 inches are possible. This product is custom made to order in our Priority Windows USA workroom.
It's mounted outside. All valances with elaborate jabots such as this one are mounted outside of the window.
Can I put draperies under this valance?
Yes, you can. If you wanted your window to appear larger, you could add a substantial allowance for a grand look. Make sure to select a 5 1/2-inch projection to clear the draperies underneath. Consult our guide to measuring for valances for more details.
Will this valance work on a bay or bow window?
There is a possibility. If there is substantial space (at least 8 inches) between each individual window, it should work. Opt for the smallest possible board projection and calculate a small allowance for each window.
How would I install this valance on a palladium/arched window?
You'd simply mount it outside of your window frame, at the base of the arch.
Can you make this in a different width?
We're sorry, but this valance is only available in widths between 38 and 48 inches.
Do you center the fabric prints on the swag?
Yes, we do.
What kinds of trims do you suggest? I'm afraid that I will pick the wrong kind.
Each product has already been configured to allow you to choose only trims that will work with it. Short trims are not offered on valances with deep, voluminous folds and similarly, big and bulky trims aren't an option when it comes to scalloped products with sharp edges and curves that need to be sewn with utmost attention to detail. Feel free to choose any trim that the product allows in its drop-down list. And remember, colors don't have to match exactly, but they need to go together.
Why is the fabric that I like not available from the selection?
Likely, it is inappropriate and would jeopardize the shape and look of the valance. You will not find such fabrics under options.
Can I get this valance in one fabric only?
Of course. Just make sure to select the same fabric both for the top layer and accent fabric in the options above.
