As its name implies, the
custom simple trumpet and jabot valance features trumpets and jabots that alternate between beautifully scalloped flat swags. Usually, trumpet and jabot valances are more formal, but we have a put a twist on a traditional valance to give it a new look. The jabots are a bit shorter and the swags are flat. This allows beautiful prints to be placed onto each swag and the short swags give a room a more casual and friendly feeling. Plus, this valance works much better for busy areas such as sliding doors.
As expected from a custom window treatment, the valance is fully lined. Each trumpet and jabot is lined with contrast lining of your choice. Interlining is optional. The top of each trumpet and jabot features tab tops that can accommodate a curtain pole up to two and a half inches in diameter. The tabs can be finished with either hand-sewn grosgrain ribbon detail or tassel ties can be tied around each.
Excluding trims, the swag drop is approximately 20 inches. Jabot length is approximately 24 inches.
The number of swags, trumpets and jabots depends on your chosen width. Two-swag versions are displayed on the left. This product is custom made to order in our Priority Windows USA workroom.

Product-Specific Frequently Asked Questions
Will this valance work on a bay or bow window? Valances with trumpets and jabots such as this one cannot bend around corners. While a single extra wide valance that spans across several windows may not work, multiple smaller valances will. The key is to look at each window separately and make sure that you have at least six inches of wall space between adjacent windows. If you decide to go with separate drapery poles with finials for each window, then each valance should cover the window frame only slightly to allow room for finials.
What kinds of trims do you suggest? I'm afraid that I will pick the wrong kind. Each product has already been configured to allow you to choose only trims that will work with it. Short trims are not offered on valances with deep, voluminous folds and similarly, big and bulky trims aren't an option when it comes to scalloped products with sharp edges and curves that need to be sewn with utmost attention to detail. Feel free to choose any trim that the product allows in its drop-down list. And remember, colors don't have to match exactly, but they need to go together.
The fabric that I'd like is not an option for this product. More than likely, the fabric repeat or the way that the prints are centered on the fabric may compromise the shape or look of this valance. We have taken those fabrics off the list so that you get a product with well-centered prints, as well as a product with proper swag volume.
What kind of drapery pole can I use with this valance?A decorative drapery pole with a diameter up to 1 1/2 inches works for the version with grosgrain ribbon and a drapery pole with a diameter up to 2 inches works for the version with tassel ties.
Can I pair this valance up with draperies?Yes, it's quite a rich look actually. You just have to make sure that your valance projects at least five inches from the window to ensure that draperies can fit underneath it. You will need a matching wooden or metal bracket that extends at least five inches. Those are quite inexpensive and readily available at many retailers who sell drapery hardware. Also, if you have room, you can add draperies to make your window appear larger. Try installing each drapery at least ten inches away from the window and adding an empire swag valance that is much wider than your window.
