Introducing another unique custom window treatment - the Vermont valance has a surprisingly simple design that can transform any room. Opt for a small return or no return and install it underneath draperies. Opt for a large 5 1/2-inch return and install it over draperies. Of course, the Vermont valance looks beautiful by itself as well, without any draperies or fabric shades.
Product-Specific Frequently Asked Questions
Can this valance be gathered?No, this valance is meant to hang flat.
What kind of curtain rod do I need for this valance? It depends on whether you choose a valance with or without a
return. Valances without a
return will work with a decorative pole up to 1 1/4 inches in diameter. Valances with a
return require a 2 1/2-inch wide
continental rod.
Do I need to order a valance with or without a return? If you plan on using a decorative pole with finials, you will need a valance without a
return. For
projection rods, you will need to add a
return for the valance width. If you will use custom draperies underneath each valance, a valance with a
return of 5 inches or more is necessary. If you will use custom draperies over each valance, make sure that the valance
return is small enough so that it doesn't create an obstruction.
Can I mount the valance inside the window?Yes. Just make sure to choose no
return and install onto a tension rod.
What kinds of trims do you suggest? I'm afraid that I will pick the wrong kind. Each product has already been configured to allow you to choose only trims that will work with it. Short trims are not offered on valances with deep, voluminous folds and similarly, big and bulky trims aren't an option when it comes to scalloped products with sharp edges and curves that need to be sewn with utmost attention to detail. Feel free to choose any trim that the product allows in its drop-down list. And remember, colors don't have to match exactly, but they need to go together.
The fabric that I'd like is not an option for this product. More than likely, the fabric
repeat or the composition of the fabric may compromise the shape or look of this valance. We have taken those fabrics off the list so that you get a product that works perfectly.
What is the difference between using blackout lining and premium lining? The difference is small, but
blackout lining pulls the valance taut and gives it a flatter surface and strength.
Blackout lining, if of good quality, works miracles when it comes to keeping the heat and sun out. With premium lining, the valance will have a more casual, free-flowing look.
If I choose an outside mount for this valance, how big should my allowance be?It should be minimal, only enough to cover your window frame plus an inch or so. Don't forget to follow our measuring guide (click on the red "design & buy it" button and click on measuring instructions).
