Scalloped Julia Valance

Available widths: 27" (French door or narrow window), 37", 44", or 53"

Our custom Julia valance is a simple valance. Yet, its unique scalloped shape gives it a different look than what is commonly seen in store-bought shaped valances. The Julia valance features a 3-inch rod pocket for easy installation. A 2-inch rod pocket is available too and we recommend it if installing the valance onto a French door. Choose a decorative pole with finials or install it onto a continental rod with a 3.5- or 5-inch return to mimic the look of a cornice or board-mounted window treatment.

There are several widths available: 27 inches (for French door or narrow window), 37 inches, 44 inches, or 53 inches. This product is custom made to order in our Priority Windows USA workroom.

Note: Adding beaded trim is highly recommended for this valance. It will add weight to the valance and give it a better form.

Product-Specific Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Julia valance be made in a different width?
Unfortunately, it cannot. Each one of our scalloped valances has its own pattern. There is no gathering and there is no shortening or extending of pattern pieces. Each scalloped pattern is fixed. However, you can choose a width of 27, 37, 44, or 53 inches.

Why do you not have any scalloped valances for wide windows?
There would be a seam if we made our scalloped valances wider than what they already are. With the exception of a few styles, we try to avoid seams so that you get a good quality product.

Do I need to order a valance with or without a return?
If you plan on using a decorative pole with finials, you will need a valance without a return. Likewise, if you will use draperies over the valance, there may not be room for a valance with a return. For projection rods, you will need to add a return for the valance width. If you will use custom draperies underneath each valance, a valance with a return of 5 inches or more is necessary. Note that not all Julia valances are available with a return.

I want to install this valance onto my French door but I am afraid or unable to drill into it. What should I do?
If your door is made of a metallic material that can't be drilled into, try a magnetic curtain rod. There is no drilling involved at all.

What is the difference between using blackout lining and premium lining?
The difference is small, but blackout lining pulls the valance taut and gives it a flatter surface and strength. Premium lining gives the valance a more casual, free-flowing look.

Can this valance be made with another trim?
It can only be made with the pre-approved trims that are offered under product options. Valances with sharply scalloped seams such as this one are very difficult to sew and require great expertise. For that reason, only select trims are available.

What kind of curtain rod do I need for this valance?
It depends on whether you choose a valance with or without a return. Valances without a return will work with a decorative pole up to 1 5/8 inches in diameter. Valances with a return require a 2 1/2-inch wide continental rod.
Note: For the French door version with a 2-inch rod pocket, you will need a 1-inch wide continental rod (instead of a 2 1/2-inch wide continental rod) or a decorative pole with a diameter up to 3/4 inches (instead of a decorative pole up to 1 5/8 inches in diameter).
