Rooster Toile Pinch Pleat Drapery Enlarge Product or View More Custom Products
If you'd like to move your design up from a ready-made drapery to a custom drapery, then perhaps our pinch pleat custom drapery with an attached valance is a great idea. The drapery is a heavy-weight curtain with pinched pleats that are formed by hand by our seamstresses. For even more dramatic luxury, you can add trims to the attached valance. And regardless of whether you need a drapery for an 8-foot wall or you need a dramatic two-story window treatment, you'll find the right size.

Our custom draperies feature blind stitched, hand-sewn bottom hems, premium lining, a floating bottom hem and include weighted corners. Patterns are matched across seams. Interlining and trims are optional.

Product-Specific Frequently Asked Questions
How long should my attached valance be?
It really depends on the length of the curtain. We recommend the 17-inch valance length for draperies up to 84 inches in length. The 20-inch valance length is ideal for draperies between 85 and 108 inches. As the drapery length increases, so should the valance length as well. Also, it is wise to take into account the length of trim if you choose to add it.

What is a floating bottom hem?
This means that the different layers of each drapery are not attached at one single bottom hem, but instead, flow freely, with each layer having its own hem. This requires blind stitching, which conceals any seams. Floating bottom hems are essential in custom draperies because they prevent any bunching up or sagging of fabric.

Do I need to buy drapery rings?
Yes, you need drapery rings that match your curtain pole. Each pleated drapery arrives with drapery pins already in place.

When should I get interlining?
Interlining gives a drapery more shape so it's always a wise choice. It is especially good for some fabrics that need strength such as faux silks and required for 100% silks to prevent fading by the sun and silk rotting. Interlining is one of the most effective ways to lessen the effects of sun damage and outside noises. It also prolongs the lifespan of a custom window treatment and mitigates the effects of severe outside heat or cold.

How far away from the ceiling is a drapery installed?
If you use a valance that goes over the drapery, you will need to install the drapery right underneath the valance. If you use draperies alone or valances or shades underneath the drapery, the drapery should be installed about an inch below your crown molding (or a bit lower if you have no crown molding). For arched palladium windows, the drapery can either be installed at the same height as the top of the arch or at the same height as the base of the arch of your window.

What does patterns are matched across seams mean?
Drapery fabrics come in standard widths. For that reason, any drapery wider than the actual fabric width must have several panels sewn together. This requires that patterns flow continuously across seams. The following is an example of one of our pattern-matched draperies:
