The foyer is the entryway to your house. It is the first thing everyone sees when they come into your house. The foyer is how the house greets and welcomes the guests, which makes it all the more important.

No matter how small your foyer may be, it doesn't mean it has to be insignificant, or that you won't be able to decorate it correctly. Rather, you should take the redecorating of your foyer as a welcome challenge. Sometimes, it's these small areas that make a lasting impact to your friends and family if you do it just right.

It is always said that you have to put your best foot forward when meeting people. It's just the same as with your house's foyer. Make sure that the foyer is eye-catching and interesting. Since foyers are usually only small spaces, just take out all the unwanted and unsightly clutter that you won't want your guests to see.

The foyer is supposed to celebrate you and your home. Remember to always show your personality when decorating the foyer. Don't display something that you don't really like. This is the time to put your personal flair in high gear. If possible, decorate with personal memorabilia that will allow your guests to catch a glimpse of your world. You can mount pictures on the wall, or place some trinkets and souvenirs from your travels on a small side table.

You definitely don't need to spend a lot to redecorate your foyer. If you don't have time or money to repaint the walls, for example, then just work around the existing colors and lay-out. What you can do, however, is to experiment with the furniture and decorative items on the foyer. Let your furniture bring life into your foyer.

Most people don't consider lighting when redecorating their foyers, but it is actually important in setting the mood when your guests arrive.

Shoes are supposed to be placed in a shoe rack, not strewn all over the floor. Coats go to the coat rack or the closet. Keeping your foyer neat and tidy also means you are organized about your stuff. Also, most houses have mirrors in foyer walls, if only so you can check yourself before leaving your house. This also has a hidden advantage, in that big mirrors can give the illusion of a larger room as well.

Lastly, foyers are the first thing your visitors see, but it's not the main attraction. As a transitional room, it should only actually be a taste of things to come as your visitors gradually enter your house. Don't let a foyer explode with color only to leave the rest of the house with drab, neutral tone. Sometimes, a simple and elegant ensemble makes all the more impact. You don't want to overdo it.

These are only a few suggestions for fabulous foyer ideas. Ultimately, it is you who must follow your own tastes in order to make your foyer as warm and welcoming as it could be.
