Now there is absolutely no excuse to keep that complicated bay or palladium window bare. Our board-mounted hobbled valance gives you many sizing options to choose from, in addition to the hundreds of fabrics that we have in stock. The hobbled valance is a stationary valance. It rests on a board that is lined with the face fabric of your choice. Board depths available: 1 1/2 inches or 2 1/2 inches. Valance can also be inside-mounted if desired. Each valance is fully lined with premium white lining. Interlining is optional.
Large-scale toile and floral prints are not recommended for this product. Choose among two different bottom hem styles:
straight or Jessi. This product is custom made to order in our Priority Windows USA workroom.
Product-Specific Frequently Asked Questions
Will it be difficult to install this valance? It shouldn't as long as you can follow the directions. Contrary to popular belief, board-mounted valances are just as easy to install as rod-mounted valances are. There is no need to buy curtain rods or rings, so a board-mounted window treatment can sometimes be less expensive. This window treatment includes the proper angle brackets in the shipment. All you need are a level, drill, a few anchors and screws, a metal measuring tape and someone to help you out. If you have a handy helper, each valance should take about 15 to 30 minutes to install.
When do I need interlining? You will need it for faux silks. Also,
interlining is really a good idea for any fabric in this case because it will give you hobbled folds with the best possible shape.
Can this valance work on a bay window or bow window?Yes, certainly. It allows for a minimal
allowance, which is great for windows that are side by side. Try it on corner windows too.
Can this valance work on an arched or palladium window?Of course. Mount it on the base of the arched part of the window. If you have a wooden frame around your window, you will need to mount each valance inside each window. For windows without a wooden frame,
inside mounts and
outside mounts both work.
For in outside mount, how big should the allowance be?It shouldn't be too large. It should be enough to cover your window frame, with up to an inch on each side for some extra space.
Can I adjust the length of this valance? No, the length is fixed.
I see that this valance can be installed over French doors. Will it work on mine? You have to make sure that the distance to your ceiling is greater than the desired valance length. When measuring, keep in mind that the bottom of the valance stops at the window frame. Don't forget to account for corded trim in your measurements if you choose to add it.
Can I add some other trims to this valance? We're sorry, but only corded trim is available at this moment.
Can I put this valance under draperies? Great idea. Just make sure that the drapery hardware has a proper clearance (see our measuring guides for more info).
Can I add this valance over draperies?Unfortunately, you can't. Neither the board
projection nor the style of the valance are appropriate for this type of layering.
Why are your large-scale fabrics unavailable as a choice? The prints would not flow properly across the folds - the patterns would be broken up across the folds. Hence, only geometrical and small-scale prints are available.
