And there is no need to worry about choosing the right fabrics. Most of our fabrics work wonderfully with this valance. Large prints are centered onto each scallop and patterns are matched across seams professionally. Each valance is fully lined with quality drapery lining. Interlining is optional. The valance hangs slightly gathered on a decorative curtain pole without a return. A 3-inch rod pocket is standard. This product is custom made to order in our Priority Windows USA workroom.
Product-Specific Frequently Asked Questions
I'm confused. Do I use the actual width or the gathered width when measuring for this valance? The actual width tells you the width of the valance when it is laid flat. However, the valance is intended to be gathered only, so the gathered width is what you will need to consider when measuring your window.
How do I adjust the length of the valance? The valance is made with ringlets in the back which you can tie together with the provided string. Tie it tightly and the valance assumes a shorter length, tie it loosely and the valance assumes a longer length. We recommend to adjust this
balloon valance between 18 and 24 inches. It can be adjusted to a slightly shorter or longer length, but we have found that it maintains its ideal shape at an 18- to 24-inch length.
How do I achieve more voluminous scallops? The valance is already more voluminous than a store-bought valance because the premium lining is stronger but also because decorative fabrics are stronger and we use more of it. However, if you'd like a rich valance with deeper folds and if you choose faux silks, then we recommend
interlining.
Will the cross seams be visible? Cross seams are very common in custom window treatments and occur because fabrics are manufactured in standard widths. Unless you inspect the valance in great detail and look at it up close, they won't be visible. For one, the patterns are matched across the seams. Also, the seams occur where the valance is most gathered, so they will be hidden from view.
