| Product-Specific Frequently Asked Questions | What is a floating bottom hem? This means that the different layers of each drapery are not attached at one single bottom hem, but instead, flow freely, with each layer having its own hem. This requires blind stitching, which conceals any seams. Floating bottom hems are essential in custom draperies because they prevent any bunching up or sagging of fabric.

How much does each drapery gather? That depends on your chosen fabric and linings. Generally speaking, a rod pocket drapery gathers as follows: - 1W - gathers to about 25 to 28 inches per each drapery;
- 1.5W - gathers to about 38 to 42 inches per each drapery;
- 2W - gathers to about 51 to 57 inches per each drapery.
If I decide to go with the ruffled header, do I measure the length of the drapery with or without it? Make sure to include the ruffled header into your calculations. In other words, the option that asks you about the drapery length asks for the drapery length from the top of the ruffled header to the very bottom of the drapery.
When should I get interlining? Interlining gives a drapery more shape so it's always a wise choice. It is especially good for some fabrics that need strength such as faux silks and required for 100% silks to prevent fading by the sun and silk rotting. Interlining is one of the most effective ways to lessen the effects of sun damage and outside noises. It also prolongs the lifespan of a custom window treatment and mitigates the effects of severe outside heat or cold.
Can I draw rod pocket draperies at night for privacy or during the day to control the light that shines through my windows? You could with some windows that aren't too tall. However, keep in mind that rod pocket draperies are intended to be stationary. If you'd like to draw draperies on a daily basis, you will need draperies installed onto curtain rings such as pleated draperies.
What does patterns are matched across seams mean? Drapery fabrics come in standard widths. For that reason, any drapery wider than the actual fabric width must have several panels sewn together. This requires that patterns flow continuously across seams. The following is an example of one of our pattern-matched draperies:
