| Product-Specific Frequently Asked Questions | Can this valance be gathered on the rod? No, this valance hangs flat.
Can this valance be installed onto the actual window frame? Yes, certainly. You may need to go for this option if you have a section of windows that are very close together (i.e. bay windows).
Can this valance be installed inside the actual window? Yes, an inside-mount works great too. You may need to go for this option if you have a section of windows that are very close together (i.e. bay windows) or if you need to clear a pair of draperies that go over this valance.
Can I adjust the length of this valance? Yes, you can, although you can only adjust it by a few inches. The valance is made with ringlets in the back which you can tie together with the provided string. Tie it tightly and the valance assumes a shorter length, tie it loosely and the valance assumes a longer length. It can be adjusted to a slightly shorter or longer length, but we have found that it maintains its ideal shape at an 18- to 24-inch length.
How do I get a balloon valance with more volume? In that case, we recommend interlining. Interlining is also highly recommended for faux silks for proper shape.
How do I install this valance on a palladium window? You'd install it at the base of the arched section of your window. Inside-mounting is recommended, but mounting the valance on the frame or outside wall will easily work as well.
Can I put this valance over draperies? Yes, you can. Just make sure that the bracket projection for your decorative pole is at least 5 inches. This is needed to be able to clear a pair of draperies that go under the valance.
Can I put this valance under draperies? Great idea. Just make sure to use it as an inside-mount for best results.
Can I use a continental rod with this valance? Yes, you can. The maximum projection that we recommend is 1 1/2 inches. A continental rod cannot be used if you add draperies under the valance, but it can be used if you add draperies over the valance or opt to use this valance alone for your window. To use draperies underneath this valance, opt for a decorative pole (see above).
What do I do if I want only one fabric on the entire valance? Just make sure to select the same fabric for both the 'face fabric' and 'fabric for the pleat' drop-down options.
Does this valance have a pleat on each side? This is a very important question and the answer is yes. Enjoy the valance from all angles, even when viewed from the side. Plus, extra pleats add structure and volume.
Why are only a few trim styles available? The reason is because we use a lot of fabric for our balloon valances. As the bottom of the valance is folded to create the balloons, the fabric becomes more and more tucked in in the back. Hence, since short trims won't be visible, they're not an option. | |
